FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your Questions Answered
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
I am in network with most plans with BCBS of Texas. You will need to verify that I am a provider in your insurance plan (under Angela Durham) and see what your deductible/copay is before our first session. Please note some plans do not cover marriage or family sessions. All other insurance providers besides BCBS will be considered out of network. I am happy to file your insurance for you if you can be reimbursed by your insurance, but you will be expected to pay the session fee at the time of the session.

I do not take Medicare or Medicaid insurance.
Tip: Be sure to check if your insurance plan covers Telehealth sessions.
CAN I BOOK AN INTAKE SESSION?
How booked I am at any given time will determine if you can schedule an intake session as a new client. I want to be sure I have the availability to take you on before getting started to ensure you get the care you need. Feel free to email me directly for more information at angie@selahmft.com.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
The initial intake session is $135 and all other sessions are $125. If you have BCBS insurance and I am in your network, the BCBS contract rate is $92.04 or just a copay, depending on your plan.
ARE YOU MEETING THROUGH TELEHEALTH OR IN PERSON?
At this time I am counseling via Telehealth through Simple Practice. You will need a device with a screen and internet access. Because I am only licensed in the state of Texas, you will need to be physically in the state of Texas during the time of our session.
Please visit https://angie.clientsecure.me to schedule through Simple Practice.
DO YOU COUNSEL CHILDREN?
I only counsel age 18+.
WHAT IS YOUR COUNSELING APPROACH?
I believe God is sovereign over all things, including counseling. I tend to take an integrative approach when identifying symptoms and treatment, taking into account one's physical, mental, emotional, relational, behavioral, and spiritual health. Counseling is not a Bible study, but we may incorporate principles of the Christian faith if you so choose. I may also incorporate elements of other evidence-based treatments, including CBT, DBT, ERP, EMDR, and ACT when appropriate.
DO YOU COUNSEL MEN OR JUST WOMEN?
I mainly counsel women, but I am willing to work with husbands individually if the situation is fitting to help in marriage counseling. I do not counsel men individually apart from doing marriage work.
HOW DO I BOOK/PAY?
Everything I use is linked to the Simple Practice platform. You will have your own secure account within Simple Practice to hold practice documents, your credit card to be charged at the end of each session, scheduling from my calendar, and there is even a secure messaging service within the platform to communicate between sessions. This is also where we will meet virtually.
WHATÂ IFÂ I AM IN CRISIS?
I am not a crisis counselor. If you are in crisis, please visit the nearest emergency room or call 911. The suicide hotline is 800-273-8255 or text HOME to 741741.
HOW DOES EMDR WORK IN A VIRTUAL MEETING?
EMDR can work well virtually. You will need a computer/laptop (not a phone) and I will send you a link that I will operate on my end as we meet together.
